To the students who were registered to take their SAT tests at ASD:
The SAT test that was planned on August 29th was canceled at our school due to the Ministry’s regulations. The American School of Doha contacted the College Board as soon as the school leadership took the decision regarding the opening of the school based on the existing regulations and informed them of the cancellation. The College Board asked the international test centers to confirm the administration by August 17th. Therefore, ASD took its decision within the given time frame. In addition, the cancellation of Fall tests was a possibility when the College Board opened the registration.
We understand that the cancellation of the test has caused some families frustration. However, ASD is obliged to follow the guidelines of the ministry like all other test centers/ schools in Qatar. In addition, ASD is not the only school canceling the August SAT, all test centers are closed for August SAT. We are also aware of the need for these tests but the safety of the students in Qatar is our top priority during these challenging times. Universities all around the world are responding to this need by changing their test requirements for the class of 2021. Thus, our counselors recommend you to check the requirement pages of your target universities in this regard.
The American School Doha has continued to follow the guidelines of the ministry and College Board while administering the SAT tests and increased its seat capacity 70% exceptionally for this year’s tests to support the students in Qatar. We hope to have a safe start and can administer future tests including the one September 26th. However, none of the test centers in the world are able to confirm the administration due to the uncertainty of the pandemic.
We wish you a safe start at your schools and a successful academic year.
