School Governance
The American School of Doha (ASD) is a non-profit educational institution governed jointly by a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees constitutes the highest legal authorizing body for ASD and is the trustee of ASD’s property and assets. The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees is the Ambassador of the United States of America.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of a 12 member Board, three of whom are elected by parents and the remaining nine members appointed by the U.S. Ambassador. The officers are Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Treasurer.
The Board maintains school policies and appraises the school’s performance. The Board establishes and approves a yearly budget, ensures the school’s goals and objectives are met and evaluates the performance of the school according to the school’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
The Board meets monthly during the school year, both as a whole board and in working committees. The three committees are Finance and Facilities, Strategy and Policy, and Governance and Personnel. There are also ad hoc groups that are formed on “as needed” basis.
