The ASD Choir and Winds Ensemble proudly represented ASD at the THIMUN Qatar event, showcasing their dedication and musical talent on an international stage.

Their performance added a powerful artistic element to the conference, highlighting the role of music in international discussions. Our ensembles were guided and prepared by Merle Soodyall, Jim Kulpa, and Sarah Sevenbergen, whose support helped make this performance possible.

The event was filled with a diverse selection of books, puzzles, games, and so much more, offering our students the perfect opportunity to dive into new worlds and fuel their imaginations through the power of stories.

On January 25th, over 70 families attended the first Early Childhood Open House in three years! Three years ago, ASD launched Pre-K 3 programming as an extension of our Early Childhood continuum of care. Hosted by Admissions and Lower Elementary, the event gave prospective families a glimpse into ASD’s dynamic Pre-K and Kindergarten programs, highlighting its hands-on, personalized learning approach that nurtures creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning. Families left excited about the supportive and enriching environment ASD offers young learners.

Our High school photography class embarked on an inspiring trip to Katara Cultural Village, immersing themselves in Qatari culture. Students explored mesmerizing architecture, vibrant art installations, and lively cultural events, all while practicing their photography skills.

This hands-on experience not only allowed them to capture the beauty of their surroundings but also offered precious glimpses into Qatar’s roots and customs. From traditional crafts to breathtaking landscapes, our ASD Dragons left with a deeper appreciation for the Qatari Culture.


لقد قام صف التصوير الفوتوغرافي في المدرسة الثانوية برحلة ملهمة إلى كتارا، حيث تعمقوا في التعرف على الثقافة القطرية. استكشف الطلاب فن العمارة المدهش، والمنشآت الفنية النابضة بالحياة، والفعاليات الثقافية الحيوية، أثناء تطبيق مهاراتهم في التصوير الفوتوغرافي.

At ASD we celebrate the different cultures that make up our diverse community. Recently, our Grade 4 & 5 Spanish classes had the incredible opportunity to visit the Embassy of Mexico @embamexqatar to learn about the vibrant traditions of “El Día de Los Muertos”.

This event allowed our students to immerse themselves in the customs and significance of this beautiful celebration, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Mexican culture. We believe that by embracing different perspectives and traditions, we cultivate a more inclusive and enriching environment for everyone.

Mr. De Luigi and Mr. Swyer of the U.S. Embassy visited 6th-grade students to discuss the strong partnership between the United States and Qatar in supporting Afghan refugees.

They highlighted both nations’ collaborative efforts to provide shelter, resources, and education to displaced Afghan families, emphasizing the importance of global cooperation in humanitarian crises.

The embassy representatives shared personal stories of how this partnership has impacted the lives of refugees and underscored the students’ role in fostering empathy and understanding toward those in need. The visit inspired students to think globally and act compassionately in their communities and how they might choose careers that would allow them to help those in need.

Chosen for their admirable scholarship, commendable character, inspiring leadership, and selfless service, these students are the embodiment of the NHS values. 

As a student-led service organization, NHS at ASD takes immense pride in supporting initiatives tied to our sibling school in Tanzania, the St. Pius School.
