Welcome to the Lower Elementary School — Where Every Journey Begins

At the American School of Doha, the Lower Elementary School (LES) lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Spanning from Pre-K3 through Grade Two, our program nurtures the curiosity, creativity, and confidence of each child in a learner-centered environment designed to support the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally.

The early years of education are of great importance. Our Early Childhood program (Pre-K3 to Kindergarten) emphasizes exploration, play, inquiry, and the development of essential readiness skills. As learners transition into Grades One and Two, they continue to build upon that foundation through hands-on, authentic learning experiences that deepen their understanding and prepare them for the next stage of their educational journey.

Our dedicated faculty brings a wealth of international expertise, deep passion for early learning, and a collaborative commitment to nurturing each child’s strengths and potential. With a focus on responsive, data-informed instruction, we guide learners as they develop independence, resilience, and a sense of ownership over their learning. Each year is a carefully scaffolded part of a greater journey, preparing learners not only for Upper Elementary but for a dynamic and ever-changing world. Grounded in strong foundational skills and energized by innovative practices, we equip learners to navigate and shape a future full of possibility.

We are equally committed to our learners’ social and emotional growth. Our school values of Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, and Kindness are woven into daily experiences, from classroom conversations to service projects that empower learners to be caring and engaged members of their community. We believe that strong partnerships with families are essential to supporting every learner’s success, and we value open communication and shared celebration of growth.

The LES identity statement guides our work and reflects who we are:

“Through inquiry, exploration, and play, we aim to develop the whole child, nurturing both social and emotional growth, as well as providing students with an innovative and challenging academic program. In an environment centered on our school values, students develop meaningful relationships and learn critical problem-solving skills through authentic, collaborative experiences. Utilizing data-informed and evidence-based practice, we provide a solid foundation for learning while ensuring that students are equipped with future-focused skills. We empower students to develop a strong sense of pride and ownership in their growth and accomplishments by encouraging them to celebrate and reflect on their learning.”

We invite you to explore our Lower Elementary School, a place where learners are engaged, teachers are inspired, and every child’s journey begins with purpose and possibility. Whether taking their first steps in Pre-K3 or making confident strides in Grade Two, our learners are known, valued, and empowered every day.
