Living in Doha

Welcome to Doha

Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar, is a modern city of approximately 2.5 million residents. It is a safe and cosmopolitan city with world-class infrastructure, amenities and medical facilities.

Our overseas hired faculty are provided with accommodation in a purpose-built residential compound which offers modern living and a wide range of on-complex recreational facilities. These include a swimming pool, multi-purpose gymnasium, steam and sauna rooms, table tennis as well as tennis and squash courts.

Doha itself is a vibrant city and hosts major international sporting events including football, tennis, cycling, and squash to name a few. The city is also developing infrastructure in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup when the eyes of the world will turn to Qatar.

Outside of school, our faculty takes advantage of a wide range of social and cultural activities. Opportunities for shopping and dining abound with many major international hotels represented in the city as well as a plethora of restaurants, shopping centers and retail outlets.

Around Doha, there is an opportunity to spend time at the many beaches or to venture into the desert to undertake outdoor activities and exploration.

Innovative curriculum, future-focused staff and amazing students! ASD has been an enriching place for us for twelve years and counting!

Technology Integration Specialist, High School

ASD – a vibrant learning environment with a dynamic student body who are guided by a world-class group of professionals that I consider my extended family.

Math Teacher, Middle School

The joy of working at ASD is not the amazing facilities or resources, but the knowledge that I am valued and supported by the school every day.

Kindergarten Teacher

ASD is an oasis in the desert: administration and colleagues are encouraging, teaching is energizing, and the students enjoy school

Teaching Specialist, Upper Elementary

For me ASD is about community; the school community, the teaching community and the professional learning community.

Aquatics Teacher

With motivated students, a school wide focus on learning and great facilities it’s not surprising our family is still here after ten years.

Physical Education Teacher, Lower Elementary

Our family transition to Doha has been supported by all facets of the ASD community. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a high caliber of staff.

Language Arts Teacher, High School

ASD did a fantastic job helping me transition and move to Doha. This is my third international school and by far the smoothest transition I have experienced!

Physical Education Teacher, Middle School

Wonderful community, dedicated professionals, and a great place to work. My family has loved our time at ASD.a

Math Teacher, High School

Teaching at ASD is stimulating. Learning about learning is an on-going process and when work is done you’ll be able to use tennis courts, a 30-meter swimming pool, and be housed in a beautiful residential compound.

Grade 2 Teacher

I was thinking about the incredible professional learning I have had this week, after the visit from Emily DeLiddo and then the Adaptive Schools training this weekend I just wanted to say a quick thank you for providing us with these opportunities. The high level of PL at this school is one of the reasons I continue to stay at ASD.
